In this "3 Minute Friday" episode, Pooja shares an anecdote from her life.
Hi everyone – welcome back to the Calm & Free Podcast. On Fridays like this one I share a short, under 3 minute monologue with you where I highlight a piece of wisdom I’ve come across from my own readings or learnings this past week, or share with you an inspirational anecdote that can help you lead a more calm, free and full life.
This week I want to spotlight the power inherent in TURNING OFF YOUR PHONE. On Wednesday I took a presence break, a block of 20 minutes where I stop everything I’m doing, calm my body, and give my mind the opportunity to connect with the present moment. I was lying on my hammock with my phone beside me and I picked it up and turned it off. The simple action of turning off my phone completely – not just silencing the ring – but shutting it down totally – gave me this almost immediate sensation of lightness. I was unreachable for the next 20 minutes and that made me feel free and happy. The noise of the world couldn’t reach me. I was alone with myself in the stillness of the present moment.
Turning off your phone – whether its for 5 min, a half hour, or hours on end can be one of the most healthy, essential things you can do to care for yourself. It helps you connect with the present – the only place where happiness resides. I’m going to do this more often, and I hope you’ll give it a try too.
